So NEPA are in charge of providing electricity for Nigeria which they do very badly indeed. It is pronounced NEP AAA and every time they Take Light (power cut) it is greeted with a chorus of NEPA making it one of the most used words in Nigeria. Due to lack consistent power lots of homes have a Gen (Generator) for when NEPA take light. apart from the lack of electricity the main problem is that you get power surges which cause damage to electrical items so so we tend to turn off TV's & AC's at the mains before the gen is put on but when they take light in the middle of night and it is difficult to do and hence NEPA don kill my AC well well. So that was on Wednesday AM and they guy can't come and repair it until Saturday. I thought no Wahala (problem) only a couple of nights with the windows open and a fan. Na lie O (its not true) mosquito chop me sotay i no fi sleep at all ( i was bitten so much i couldn't sleep) and with the window open and the gen on it sounded a bit like brands hatch too, it is about 30 degrees at night so i was overjoyed when it was fixed after two nights of pain.
I had to get a taxi from the office back home they have recently introduced some new clean taxis with AC working called REDCABS but that would be too easy. I asked the meguardi (security guard) to go and get me a taxi when he comes back the taxi is a Tokunbo (not road worthy) no wahala. I jumped in then car wouldn't start so the meguardi has to push start the car.
JT: Ah waytin be this you fit drive (are sure sure you can drive)
Driver : Oga this moto nogo spoil for road (Sir the car will be fine)
So we set off sweating again the back of his car breathing the fresh smog of Lagos thinking next time na redcabs who go carry me (I will use redcabs)
On a lighter note the president of Nigeria was flown to Saudi Arabia due to an ongoing illness. The rumor mill thinks he may pop his clogs soon although the papers say in will be back this week. If dies the general consensus is that there will be a coup because the gangster who put the president in power do not want the VP taking over. so watch this space there may be some serious action soon.
